Festival Need-to-Knows

Hey guys,
As you all will know it is the festival season and this involves a lot of walking, traveling and sleepless nights. So in this blog post I am going to cover 4 of the most important things to know for the festival season.

For me, one of the most important essentials in my everyday life would be my handbag. My handbag contains my purse, my phone, my sunglasses and other very important things (see my 'Whats in My Handbag' post for more). One of my biggest learning curves from attending festivals myself is to bring a backpack, not a handbag. My main reason for this is because handbags are just sitting on your shoulder and when your jumping around dancing it is bound to fall off. If you want to bring something a little fancier, but still practical, I suggest a cross-body bag, this is also smaller so your not lugging a massive bag around at night.

As you are most likely going to be camping while attending your music festival I thought I would give you a few pointers when it comes to sleeping under the stars. Most music festivals will have designated camp sites with portable toilets and showers. If this is the case then here are a few things to remember:
  • You are not going to be the only ones using those showers so bring flip-flops to wear in the cubical, also bring a bag specially for carrying your toiletries to and from the showers. These portable showers get very hot very quickly so unless you want to bath in your own sweat be as quick as possible, that means planning not to wash your hair. If you are only going away for a few days you can just was your hair before you go and bring dry shampoo for emergencies. If you are staying for longer, than the best way to cope with the shower situation is to wash your hair, then get out and let it dry, then go back to the showers to shower. This way you won't be standing in a sauna for any longer than required.
  • Around this time of year in Australia it can get very cold at night, so make sure you are well equipped. I highly recommend bringing a sleeping bag if your camping, and warm pajamas.

Most of the time taking your makeup off after a long night partying and jumping around is too much of a hassle so you will just leave it for the morning, but trust me, that's a big mistake. I know from experience that even if you don't notice it right away this will have a negative impact on your skin. Now I understand if you don't want to do your whole skin care routine, but even just some simple makeup remover/cleansing wipes will do the job, at least until the morning. I'm not going to talk to you about makeup looks, but if you want to see a festival makeup look let me know in the comments.

One of my favourite things about music festivals is the amazing outfits and unique styles you see. Festivals are a time to be playing around with different outfits and going all out. I like to go for a boho vibe when dressing for festivals but you can honestly dress as you please.
When dressing for a festival always check the weather forecast before picking any outfits, make sure you will be comfortable and express yourself with what you wear. A key aspect of every outfit that people often forget are accessories. Try to match your accesories to the vibe you are going for. If your going for boho for example, you could wear lots of silver bangles, feather earrings and temporary tattoos. If you were going for a but more chić and classy, wear minimalistic jewellery.

I hope that this has helped you and you enjoy the festival season. I won't be posting Saturday but on Wednesday I will tell you all about my festival adventures.

Lots of love,
